The city of Bangalore is a vibrant hub of activity and commerce in India. With thriving businesses rubbing shoulders with impressive palaces, temples and traditional buildings the city is a world of contrasts and a wonderful place to spend time. Visitors looking to stay in one of the many five star Bangalore hotels will not be disappointed with the warm reception they will receive. Expect the best service, comfort and welcome from your hotel staff and facilities because that is what you will undoubtedly get.
When it comes to hotel location, the five star Bangalore hotels have cornered the market on the best places to stay. With hotels adjacent to the area's best nightspots, overlooking city landmarks or historical buildings or on top of the city's best shopping streets there will be something for everyone here. Hotel facilities are second to none, with air conditioning throughout the complexes and in most hotel bedrooms as well as flat panel TVs, mini bars and hotel fitness suites with pools to help you relax.
When it comes to new experiences, Bangalore has it in spades and none so much as when it comes to choosing something to eat. Around the city, cafes and restaurants are serving up an amazing mix of local cuisine and traditional dishes which just have to be tried whilst you are visiting. As well as deliciously spiced meat and vegetables, don't miss the Kadamabam, a mouth watering mix of rice and Sambhar served with a traditional jowar roti and make sure to leave room for the many exotic lyengar sweets after your meal.
If you fancy a quiet night in, however, the hotel restaurants at many of the five star Bangalore hotels are some of the best in town. Most offer traditional or contemporary Indian cuisine, but if you are hankering for something more familiar many also offer a selection of continental or western dishes, with Italian being a firm favorite amongst the locals.
There are many sights and attractions to make time for in the city, so it can be a good idea to start your trip with a city tour to get your bearings and see some of the main attractions to be found here. The KSTDC which is the government tourist office offers half day or full day city tours with English speaking guides which cover the majority of the major attractions in the city and are fairly inexpensive to do. For a more luxurious tour try the Bangalore Rounds, a full day tour which is operated by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation and is conducted on an air conditioned bus.
One of the main city landmarks and a place you definately want to make time to see is the Vidhana Soudha which is the legislative house of the state. This building is an icon of the city and presents an imposing facade with its eight 40 foot tall columns and gigantic staircase leading up to the main entrance and directly into the assembly chamber. The building is beautifully illuminated every Sunday night so it's worth heading back to witness this spectacle after dark too.
The city is known around the world as the Garden City of India, largely thanks to its wide open green spaces and beautifully manicured gardens. Although the industrialization of the city has crept in on some of these green spaces, the majority remain to be enjoyed and give the city a fresh, relaxed air and a place where locals and tourists alike can find some space to relax.
The biggest park in the city is the 300 acre Cubbon Park which as well as playing host to an array of exotic plants and flowers, houses a number of monuments, statues, museums and even a children's play area with miniature railway. In the south of the city the botanical gardens of Lal Bagh are almost as big, at 240 acres and house a variety of ponds, fountains, rare plants and a stunning modern glass house.
The city offers so many things to do and places to see you will find it hard to fit it all in to one trip. Do try to make time for some retail therapy, however, as the city offers a truly memorable Indian shopping experience. For the best shopping the UB City is home to some of the biggest designer names in the world, or the M.G. Road is a popular tourist area with local crafts, materials, jewelry and other unique shops. Whatever you do with your time in the city, you can be certain you will not be bored.
